Obituary for Kevin Michael Diemert

KEVIN DIEMERT, 45

Kevin Michael Diemert left us on September 18, 2019 at home. He was born May 7, 1974 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Randy and Carol (Borley) Diemert. Kevin lived in Coeur d’Alene through the fourth grade and then moved to Rathdrum where he graduated from Lakeland High School. After high school Kevin’s Uncle Jack took him under his wing and taught him to work heavy equipment/excavation. Kevin worked at this for many years. He enjoyed the work and learned to operate a backhoe and trackhoe which everyone said he was a natural at. He then worked for Rob McCarthy at McCarthy Corporation until his passing. He loved this job also.

In 2006 Kevin’s son, Anthony was born and became Kevin’s pride and joy. He was so happy to have a son to teach about life. Kevin’s favorite thing growing up was to go to a mountain lake where the whole family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and occasionally a grandfather would go. He started riding motorcycles around age four and rode into the mountain lake area for the first time and continued off and on until his passing. When his son, Anthony was old enough they both would continue this family tradition of camping, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. His other outdoor sport he loved was snowmobiling and he couldn’t wait to get up in the mountain snow.

While he was in high school he bought a 1955 Chevy pickup which became his project that he and his father spent many hours transforming into a classy souped-up hot rod. One day his son will be proud to have this truck that meant so much to his dad. Kevin was a very hard worker who could outwork most people. He had a mind that loved to learn new things and was very mechanical like his father. He was always working on his truck or a friend’s. Kevin made many life long good friends on his journey through life who he learned from and they learned from him. He was a man of few words unless he had something to say.

Kevin, you will be missed by many. You left your mark on people that you cared about and the people you loved. If you were Kevin’s friend, he would move mountains for you if needed. Kevin, you will be missed. Your mom says, “I love you more!” Rest in peace our sweet son and brother.

Kevin is survived by his son, Anthony; his parents, Randy and Carol Diemert; his sister, Niki and Chad Oakland; his grandparents, Frank and Rose Cheyney of Spokane, WA; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, ID with a reception following. More important than money or flowers, Kevin would love for people to reach out and help someone in need.
