Harold Eakes, just shy of 92 years old, shuffled off on November 27, 2019 to wherever souls go to rest a bit before moving on. He was surrounded on that day by the love of family and friends.
Harold was born in Iowa City. He lived many years in Reno, where his daughters, Dana and Ruthie, were born and raised. He lived the last 25 years in Coeur d'Alene.
I found this poem in dad's desk. It suits him.
God's Garden
God looked around
his garden,
And He found an
empty place.
He then looked down
upon this earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around
you, and lifted
you to rest;
God's garden must
be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
He knew that you
were in pain.
He knew that you would
never get well on
earth again,
so He closed your
weary eyelids,
and whispered
"Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to
lose you, but you did
not go alone;
For part of us
went with you
The day God called
you home.
