Obituary for Clyde Alton James

Memorial / Celebration of Life pending at the Cocolalla Cowboy Church, Cocolalla, Idaho

Clyde Alton James was born May 20, 1942 to Thomas and Nina (McCrady) James in Kentucky. He grew up on the family farm in Leitchfield, Kentucky and graduated from Leitchfield High School in 1960. In 1964, Clyde enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. On August 28, 1965, Clyde was united in marriage to Mary Gibson at the Leitchfield General Baptist Church. Their union was blessed with 54 years of marriage. Clyde worked as an insurance adjuster and lived and served in various communities including Colorado Springs (Emmco Insurance), Denver (Aetna Insurance), Anchorage (Alpac Insurance), and in 1983, became the owner and operator of Professional Adjusters of Alaska. In 1990, they moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and established Professional Adjusters Inc. In 2005, they moved to Careywood, Idaho and in 2009, Clyde retired. On Sunday, December 22, 2019, Clyde died peacefully at his home in Careywood at the age of 77 following complications from ALS.

Clyde was a member of the Cocolalla Cowboy Church in Cocolalla, Idaho. He was active in the life of the congregation playing guitar in the praise and worship music ministry. Clyde would often bring the church mission (Gospel / Good News!) to the gun shows he often attended. He was an avid gun maker and gunsmith and was known as one of the very best. He loved the Lord first, family, guns, and guitar. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, raising horses, and especially time spent with his family.

Clyde is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary James of Careywood, Idaho; a son, Brian James of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Rachael and Ally; two great grandchildren, Shaina and Landon; three brothers, Thomas James of Kansas, Benjamin (and Vicki) James of Indiana, and Charles (and Jackie) James of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Nina; and a sister, Clydean Cooper.
